Henry Smith (C/E) Ltd has experience in working on projects that require secure facilities and we were pleased to be asked by Kier Build Ltd to take a key part in the £150million project north of Wolverhamption. As the second phase expansion of Featherstone prison, HMP Featherstone 2 (working title) will be one of the largest prisons in the area, including house blocks and additional association facilities. We were able to utilise our knowledge to provide connections design, detail, fabrication (including shot blasting and painting) and erection.
Key to this significant construction of 17 buildings were our strong relationships with other suppliers such as offsite manufacturers of pre-cast concrete decking and stairs.
Our work with police forces, such as the Greater Manchester Police, has really helped us understand the specific needs of our client and we’ve been excited to expand our knowledge even further on this project.
